In an increasingly AI-powered world, access to digital tools and reliable connectivity can be foundational to empowering the younger generation to dream big, particularly in economically disadvantaged areas. Intel is committed to empowering the next generation through digital inclusion, which is why we partnered with NWN, the City of Baltimore, and the Sean Ryan Communities of Care Initiative to create an Intel-powered AI computer resource lab in the Greenmount East neighborhood, where more than 27% of households lack Internet access. The lab’s AI PCs are equipped with Intel® Core™ Ultra processors and on-device AI capabilities to enable secure, real-time AI processing without reliance on cloud infrastructure.

Alongside Greenmount East native and former Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Sean Ryan, nearly 70 children celebrated the lab opening by using Intel-based AI PCs to explore computer vision, creative storytelling, prompt engineering, and the Intel Digital Readiness Program to design AI- and STEM-focused activities. The lab has sparked enthusiasm and pride of ownership among young students in the community — and, by ensuring Baltimore City Recreation and Parks has the support, flexibility, and scalability to maintain and expand the lab over time, we’re making sure that enthusiasm continues to flow. Successful initiatives like this serve as proof-of-concept deployments for Baltimore and other municipalities, allowing them to test and validate the benefits of AI PCs, particularly in supporting education and the development of skills for future career paths.
