With the goal of bolstering the presence of women in the technology industry, her aim is to elevate NWN’s hiring practices, transitioning from a 30% female workforce to a more equitable 50%. Her continued aspirations to promote an Inclusive and Diverse workforce are reflected in upcoming professional development programs, such as the Women of the Channel Leadership Summits East and West, as well as participation at the Society for Women Engineers’ WE23 conference, the world’s largest conference for women in engineering and technology.
“By bringing together women in the technology field at these events in a supportive and uplifting atmosphere will facilitate impactful and motivational discussions. My aspiration is for attendees to return with these valuable insights and share them with their colleagues, spreading the positive influence further,” said Andrea Morrison.
It’s a vision closely aligned with economic drivers happening now in the tech sector. As part of the 2023 SelectUSA Summit, U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo hosted a discussion on uplifting women in the workforce, ensuring equal pay, and providing women with the resources needed to be successful.
Veterans as a Vital Component of a Hiring Practice
In addition to her HR leadership, Andrea brings a wealth of experience in veteran advocacy to her new role as Chief People Officer. Recently, NWN has partnered with Massachusetts Fallen Heroes to sponsor 2023 Patriots Week, a program designed to honor the service and sacrifice of military veterans and their families. She has also led the partnership with Hiring Our Heroes program, aimed at recruiting and supporting veterans in the workplace.
