Honoring Service, Building Community: Veterans United and the Spirit of Veterans Day 

Every November, as the nation pauses to honor those who have served, Veterans Day offers a moment to reflect on the sacrifices, achievements, and ongoing contributions of veterans in our communities. At NWN, this spirit of gratitude and recognition is at the heart of our Veterans United Group, an initiative dedicated to supporting veterans within our company and beyond. 

Our Mission: Camaraderie, Support, and Advocacy 

The NWN Veterans United Community Group was founded with a clear mission: to foster camaraderie, provide support, and advocate for the well-being of veterans in our company and community. Our purpose is to create a supportive environment where veterans can connect, share experiences, access resources, and participate in activities that promote their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. 

 

Goals and Community Impact 

Our objectives are deeply personal: 

• Provide a platform for veterans to network, socialize, and build lasting relationships. 

• Offer support services for navigating civilian life, including employment, healthcare, and education. 

• Advocate for veterans’ recognition and ensure they receive the respect and assistance they deserve. 

• Foster pride and belonging through events, guest speakers, and community outreach. 

  

Leadership and Engagement 

Our group is led by passionate individuals, including directors for Veteran Development Programs, Engagement and Community Connections, Communications and Outreach. These leaders organize events, mentorship opportunities, and communication strategies to keep our veteran community connected and thriving.

Veterans Day is more than a date on the calendar; it’s a call to action. It reminds us to honor all who served, to support those transitioning to civilian life, and to ensure that veterans are celebrated not just for their past service, but for their ongoing contributions to our workplace and society.
